Life Is A Daring Adventure

"Security is mostly a superstition, it does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." -- Helen Keller

What I love about this painting in particular is that it was the result of self-daring: What could you paint if you only had a short period of time and a limited palette to play with? I picked my favourite colours: cadmium light red, teal and quinachridome gold. Then I set myself a time limit, cropped a photo of the Sidney marina taken by my friend Claire in 2016, and voila!  The looseness and playfulness of the piece convey the undulating reflection of masts in the water.
